CBC meteorologist Tina Simpkin said to predict high pollution levels. She told me satellite imagery Monday night showed the fire was located approximately 40 kilometers northeast of Yarmouth. Simpkin noted that the smoke plume remained north of Yarmouth but could also impact air quality near Beaver River and Port Maitland.
“People may experience increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches, or lack of breath. Kids, seniors, and those with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are particularly at risk,” said Simpkin.
